Many people still labour under the
delusion that cruising is expensive - and it's a misconception that
could cost them money! Because when you compare the price of a
cruise with the cost of a land-based holiday, you'll quickly see
what excellent value for money cruise holidays represent.
INCLUDED 'EXTRAS'
For a start, all meals are included in the fare - and on the average
cruise ship you can eat from daybreak to midnight, and then some.
At sea, the foodies' day begins with an Early Riser's coffee and
croissant. Then you can go to the dining room or the indoor /
outdoor cafe for a full English breakfast.
Lunch could be at least five-courses, dinner up to seven. And should
you feel peckish between the two, you'll find afternoon tea being
served in one of the ship's lounges.
No chance of night starvation on a cruise ship - the Midnight Buffet
sees to that. And many ships even offer free ice cream throughout
the day. No wonder people gain weight on cruises! But for parents
with a tribe of hungry youngsters in tow, all that free food is a
lifesaver for the family budget.
Then there's free after-dinner entertainment. You can take in a play
or a musical, enjoy a peaceful drink in an elegant piano bar, or
dance the night away in a high-tech nightclub - without the hassle
and expense of taxi rides and entrance fees.
On some ships, even shore excursions are included in the price and
where they are not, YOU choose which trips to take - so you can stay
in control of your budget.
TIPPING
Tipping levels, where applicable (some lines include tips in the
fare), are clearly explained so you can plan in advance how much
you'll spend - no embarrassing search for small change to tip
porters, barmen and other service staff as you go.
But then, that's the whole point of cruising - it creates an
environment where you can let worries simply drift away in your
wake. And that includes anxiety over the hidden 'extras' which can
send holiday costs soaring. |
